My favourite sporting memory is from the 2002 Winter Olympics. I saw Rhona Martin sliding her final curling stone to win the gold medal for Team GB at Salt Lake City. At the same games, Alex Coomber started the sequence of medal winning Skeleton runs that led to Amy Williams' first solo gold since the early days at the Vancouver Games 8 years later. But my favourite memory from the games, is Alain Baxter taking advantage of the murky conditions while driving solo, winning bronze in the slalom. Britain's first Alpine skiing medal ever, what a moment! Sadly the joy was short-lived as Alain used an inhaler the night before containing a banned substance! But the feeling of elation is still with me!
